Croton tiglium

Introduction

Family:: Euphorbiaceae
Malay name: Chenkian, Chemekian, Tuba Kian
Other names: Purging Croton, Croton, Hogwort

Information

These types of herbal plants can grow and reach a height of 12 meters. It has green leaves and arranged in alternating and has a hairy surface. The fruit is a small plant and capsule form.

Use

The plant is reportedly used in traditional treatments for treating abdominal pain, toothache, sore throat, tumors, and snake bites. Oil from the seeds is also reportedly used to treat skin diseases.

Excess

Used in the manufacture of soap.

Toxic Part: Entire plant, especially seeds.

Active Ingredients: Oil kroton which contains 14 kinds of fatty acid ester. For example, phorbol-12 0.13-diesters, and 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate.

Effects of Poisoning

Effect of plant poisoning is a very significant either ingested or come in contact with the diarrhea. It can also cause inflammation of the skin, and blisters on the mouth. Smoke from burning plants can cause inflammation of the eye. It is estimated that 20 points kroton oil can cause death.
