Other names: Milky Mangrove, Gewa

Information

Plants are either grown as ornamental plants or are growing wild in the mangroves. It can reach a height of 14-20 meters. The entire plant has a latex. The leaves are green and tapered ends. It will change color to red and yellow when mature

Local use

Been used as drugs to stimulate vomiting and a laxative.

Excess

12-deoksiforbol 13 - (3E, 5E-decadienoate) have been reported in use as anti-HIV drugs.

Effects of Poisoning

Sap is a strong irritant and can cause blindness if hit in the eye. It can also cause diarrhea and bloody urine when ingested. Inflammation of the skin, swelling and blistering was also reported to occur when touched.
