Anacardium occidentale

Family: Anacardiaceae
Malay name: Gajus, Jambu golok, Jambu monyet
Other names: Cashew nut tree
Information

This plant is quite high and can reach 15 meters in height. The stem is a rubber latex. The leaves are arranged opposite. The fruit of this plant is shaped like a pear with beans or lentils and kidney-shaped ends.

Use

Shoots eaten as a salad mistress, the fruit is eaten as dessert nuts and seeds as snacks.

Poisoned

Toxic Part: The shell or outer skin of beans.
Active Ingredients: Acid anakardik, Cardol, Anakardol  Other Ingredients: bilobol, metal cardanol, cardanol

Effects of Poisoning

Poisoning caused by the irritant nature of iti and cause inflammation of the skin, dermatitis and abdominal pain. Smoke from the burning of the skin can stimulate seed asthma.
